Detroit Police Chief James Craig called on “Squad” member Rashida Tlaib to resign after her “reckless” comments about the police.
“I’d love to see her resign. I’d throw her a goodbye party. …Let her go. Who is she speaking for, Charlie? Let me just say this, when you talk about abolishing police, and incarceration, and you talk about safe cities — what do you think the residents in Detroit want? I know, I speak with them. (Her comments) are reckless, Charlie. So, is she truly representing the people? Or is she representing a fringe group?”
Craig followed up on these comments on CNN.
“This is about her putting attention to herself. That’s exactly what it’s designed to do. It’s not productive. She doesn’t speak for the majority of Detroiters. The majority of Detroiters support this police department. They want effective and constitutional policing. And to make statements like, ‘abolish policing,’ ‘abolish incarceration,’ certainly is counterproductive.’”
He was referring to these comments by Tlaib and yes, if anything, “reckless” is understating it,

Don’t you miss the America where saying something this mind-numbingly stupid would be enough to cost a politician her job?
Obviously, anyone in this country who thinks the police are “inherently racist” and calls for an end to “policing” is unfit for office. Even a 5-year-old could tell you not all police are bad and question who’d stop criminals if we got rid of the police. At the end of the day, Democrats like Tlaib seem to have concluded that it’s to their advantage to attack the police at every opportunity. However, the majority of Americans don’t feel that way and many of the ones that do come around after seeing the sort of skyrocketing crime and violence that inevitably happens when liberals succeed in handcuffing cops. Long term, the Democrats will pay a big price for this and they will deserve it.
