New Twitter CEO Elon Musk spoke at the annual World Government Summit in Dubai, and used the opportunity to speak out against a world government.
"I know this is called the World Government Summit, but I think we should be maybe a little bit concerned about actually becoming too much of a single world government," Musk said. “We want to avoid creating a civilizational risk by having, frankly — this may sound a little odd — too much cooperation between governments."
Musk elaborated, calling for a degree of “civilizational diversity”; “If you look at the rise and fall of civilizations throughout history, civilizations have risen and fallen, but it hasn’t meant the doom of humanity as a whole, because they have been given all these separate civilizations that were separated by great distances.”

Musk commented on Twitter afterwards that it “Seemed like the right venue” to make his case.
The World Government Summit was founded in 2013, brings together speakers from about 150 countries, and attracts thousands of in-person attendees. This year, the keynote speech at the Summit was delivered by the World Economic Forum's Klaub Schwab, who called for creator government cooperation and control over people's lives, citing "global challenges."
