Fresh off his charges being dropped, NYC Mayor Eric Adams is teaming up with Tom Homan to assist with mass deportations.
In an interview on "Fox & Friends," Adams appeared alongside Border Czar Tom Homan to discuss their collaboration on immigration policy, particularly focusing on implementing measures to remove individuals considered dangerous from New York City streets.
During the interview, Adams defended his approach by emphasizing public safety and his willingness to work with the current administration, rather than oppose it. He announced plans to work on an executive order allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to operate at Rikers Island jail, a move that aligns with Trump's immigration enforcement strategy.
One key difference in rhetoric between the two was that Adams spoke specifically of deporting illegal aliens with criminal records (in addition to the crime of illegally crossing the border), while the position of the Trump administration is to have all illegal aliens deported.
Adams was also wishy-washy on the cityâs commitment to being a âsanctuary city,â responding that the city âhas always been a city of immigrants,â when asked about that. Regardless, he did ârepealâ some consequences of sanctuary policies in NYC, as ICE agents werenât allowed to operate in Rikers since 2014 due to sanctuary policies, and Adams is now going to allow law enforcement to work with ICE.
While the interview was tense at times, Homan made it clear he wouldn't be leaving New York without results. "I wasn't going to leave with nothing," Homan said. "I did the last time and I told them I'm not leaving until I got something and we got back into Rikers. That's huge. Now I got him on the couch in front of millions of people."
