Hilarity ensued on PBS’ “Finding Your Foots,” a show that explores the ancestry of dozens of influential people, when it revealed how the descendents of radical far-left activist Angela Davis arrived in America.
Davis was the Vice Presidential candidate for the U.S. Communist Party in 1980 and 1984, was active in the Black Panther Party, and was once on the FBI's Most Wanted List due to her involvement in the armed takeover a California courtroom, which resulted in four people being shot to death. She's advocated for reparations, boycotting Israel, amid countless other absurdities such as support for abolishing prisons entirely. Naturally, this has earned her celebrity status on the left.
The show’s host Henry Louis Gates Jr., handed Davis a photo, which she looked down at. “Do you know what you’re looking at? That is a list of the passengers on the Mayflower,” Gates asked Davis.
Davis was in disbelief. “No, I can't believe this,” she replied, nervous laughing. “No, my ancestors did not come here on the Mayflower.”
“You are descended from one of the 101 people who sailed on the Mayflower,” he confirmed.
“…… Oof. That’s a little bit too much to deal with right now.”
"Would you ever in your wildest dreams think that you may have been descended from the people who laid the foundation of this country?" he asked.
"Never, never, never, never, never," she said.
Does this mean she needs to pay reparations to herself?
