Freedom Caucus member Rep. Tom Garrett (R-VA) slammed the Senate last night for failing to pass a bill that would fund the border wall, calling the legislators “clowns on the other side of the building.”

Speaking to guest host Dan Bongino on Fox News’ Hannity, both Garrett and Rep. Jody Heist (R-GA) said they are completely fed up with Congress’ inability to pass funding for the border wall.

Garrett said, “We in the House should do our jobs and if the clowns on the other side of the building want to fail, let them. But when we say well it won’t get through the Senate so we’ll abdicate our responsibility, I just won’t accept that.”

The Virginia lawmaker also made a startling comparison when it comes to victims of Illegal immigrant crime.

“Let me be real clear, the cost in human lives, straight line cost of not protecting our border, would equal the casualties of the Korean War over a decade,” he said. “Over 10% of drunk drivers here illegally, that’s thousands of deaths a year. 4,000 murders a year, if you then figure in illicit drugs that come into this country that kill our brothers and sisters and sons and daughters. And so this is truly about protecting America. I am for a robust and healthy immigration plan, but it is ridiculous and flies in the face of a sovereign nation not to do this. It’s tragic that it had to be done this way.”

When asked why it took so long for House Republicans to fund the border wall, Hice responded, “Many of us have been calling for months and months and months. Let’s deal with this issue. We have the majority. The American people sent us here for this. The president is behind it. Let’s go for it. And for whatever reason it’s been stall after stall after stall…and at this point there’s just a line drawn in the sand…we’ve had enough, we’re no longer taking it.”

Last night, House Republicans passed a spending bill that provides $5.7 billion for the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and avoids a government shutdown.

This morning, President Trump praised the Republicans for their efforts and blamed a potential government shut down on Senate Democrats.

“The Democrats, whose votes we need in the Senate, will probably vote against Border Security and the Wall even though they know it is DESPERATELY NEEDED,” he wrote. “If the Dems vote no, there will be a shutdown that will last for a very long time. People don’t want Open Borders and Crime!”
