President-elect Donald Trump shared a video Tuesday of a Greenlander telling a filmmaker that he supports Trump’s effort to purchase the arctic island. The Greenlander explained that the territory's citizens are fed up with Danish colonization.
"We don't want to be colonized by the Danish government anymore," he said. "We get ripped off every year about our minerals from Greenland. We are the richest nation in the world and we don't get to use it. Denmark's using us too much."
“Okay, so like if you could tell Trump anything, what would it be,” asked the interviewer. “Buy us,” responded the Greenlander.
Trump shared the interview on his Truth Social platform, reiterating his interest in acquiring the Danish territory. “Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation,” Trump wrote. “We will protect it, and cherish it, from a very vicious outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!”

Donald Trump Jr. is traveling to Greenland today for a personal trip. Meanwhile, Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede has expressed a desire for the island territory to gain independence from Denmark.
