As the media is forced to confront why they completely ignored the Hunter Biden story, The Atlantic’s Anne Applebaum says it’s simply because the story just wasn’t that interesting.
Applebaum was asked “Do you think the media acted inappropriately when they instantly dismissed Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation and what can be learned from that in ensuring that what we label as disinformation is truly disinformation and not reality?”
She replied: “My problem with Hunter Biden’s laptop is, I think, totally irrelevant. I mean, it’s not whether it’s disinformation. I mean, I didn’t think Hunter Biden’s business relationships have anything to do with who should be President of the United States. So, I don’t find it to be interesting. I mean, that would be my problem with that as a major news story.”

As some sleuthing from Jack Posobiec uncovered, Applebaum does see the behavior of the President’s children as being relevant, as long as that president is a Republican.
“We have a president who is using the White House to make money, presidential children who are using their father’s prestige to make money” she wrote in 2019.
In a tweet from 2017 she said that Jared Kushner shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the White House.
And also that year, she called for then-Adviser the President Ivanka Trump’s “conflicts of interest.”
And despite all that, she has no concern over the “10% for the big guy.”
