The Biden administration really could’ve ended the border crisis any time they pleased - and simply chose not too because they wanted it to continue.
Illegal border crossings into the United States have fallen sharply to levels not seen in decades thanks to Donald Trump’s aggressive, common-sense immigration policies
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported that apprehensions at the southwest border plummeted in January, reaching the lowest monthly total since the early 2000s. The drop follows a sustained crackdown that includes troops at the border, expanded deportations, stricter asylum rules, and increased coordination with Mexico to curb migration flows
The decline comes after years of escalating crossings, which peaked in 2022 and 2023, overwhelming border facilities - and the nation.
CBP statistics show that just over 20,000 individuals were apprehended in January, compared to monthly totals exceeding 200,000 at the height of the crisis two years ago. The last time numbers were this low was during a period of reduced migration in the early 2000s.
This comes as the Trump administration announced they’d be deploying another 3,000 troops to the border.
