At long last, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has returned from Ghana to address the massive fires ravaging California (and her city in particular), though given her lack of competence, it’s doubtful it’ll make much of a difference.
And maybe it’ll even make things worse - as we're talking about the woman who, prior to the outbreak of these fires, cut the Los Angeles Fire Department's budget by $17.6 million.
Hilarity ensued as a reporter surprisingly did their job and confronted Bass upon her return about her inaction - and what her plan was now that she’s back.
“Do you owe citizens an apology for being absent while their homes were burning, and do you regret cutting the fire department budget by millions of dollars, Madam Mayor?” Sky News reporter David Blevins asked as Bass waited to deplane.
“Have you absolutely nothing to say to the citizens today?” he added.
She stood stone faced, and continued to ignore the reporter as he further interrogated her on her incompetence.

Amusingly, back in 2021 Karen Bass had some harsh words for leaders who abandon their constituents in a time of crisis.
Cruz had at least intended to work remotely while out of state during the North American winter storm of February 2021, and ended up quickly returning home due to criticism while apologizing. Bass, meanwhile, had ignored warnings about wildfires *before* traveling to Ghana, and remained there for days doing absolutely nothing to address the crisis.
