As everyone would expect, weak policies on illegal immigration produce more illegal immigration.

One of the first things Joe Biden did after taking office was to begin undoing Donald Trump’s legacy on immigration through a series of executive orders. Those executive orders aim to, among other things; establish a pathway to citizenship for 11 million illegals, halt border wall construction, rebranding “kids in cages” as “kids in overflow facilities,” and halt deportations.

Among those benefitting from the deportation freeze include illegals convicted of DUIs, simple assault, and more.

And even before Biden took office, his rhetoric on illegal immigration on the campaign trail served a preview of the policy to come. Migrants heard that loud and clear, and responded to incentives accordingly.

According to Breitbart:

The number of migrants apprehended by Border Patrol agents in January after illegally crossing the border from Mexico jumped by 157 percent over January 2020.

Border Patrol agents arrested 75,198 migrants who illegally crossed the Mexican border into the U.S. between ports of entry in January, according to the January Southwest Border Migration Report released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Wednesday night. This is up from 29,205 the year before. The apprehensions mark the highest January total since 2006 when agents took more than 101,000 migrants into custody.

Information reported Wednesday night paints a different picture. Single adult apprehensions jumped by triple-digit percentages in all nine southwest border sectors comparing January 20 to January 21 — 182 percent overall.

Days for the inauguration, a migrant from Honduras part of a caravan heading to the U.S.-Mexico border confirmed that Biden was the catalyst for their journey. “What I want for my people, I just want patience and prayers that we can get to the U.S. because they’re having a new president whereas Biden, he’s going to help all of us. He’s given us 100 days to get to the U.S. and give us ‘legalment paper’ so we can get a better life for our kids and family.”

What he was referencing is two promises from Biden – to ignore immigration law and not deport anyone in his first 100 days in office and he has promised to give amnesty to illegal aliens that have been in the country since January 1st.

Given that Biden is following through on his immigration policies, we can expect to see more of the same.
