In just the latest in the series of bad polls for Joe Biden, a New York Times/Siena poll found that 64% of Democrats would prefer someone other than Biden run in 2024. Making matters worse for his re-electability, the poll also found that only 1% of 18-29 year-olds "strong approve" of Biden, an age demographic that overwhelmingly votes Democrat.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about this poll by CNN's Kaitlan Collins, who responded by falsely stating that the same poll also found that "92% of Democrats support this president." However, the poll's crosstabs show that 70% of Democrats either "strongly approve" or "somewhat approve" of the trainwreck unfolding, which is significantly less than she quoted, and not exactly a spectacular internal-party rating. She appears to have been misinterpreting a separate poll question, which asked who Democrats would back in a 2024 matchup against Trump, where 92% of them picked Biden.
She then tried to brush off the poll because polls "go up and down" (though in Biden's case, mostly just down).
