CNBCā€™s Joe Kernan was having none of it when Joe Biden Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo attempted to argue that our lives actually are better off thanks to the Biden presidency.

While normal people who compare the tentures of Trump and Biden are forced to admit that personality differences aside, their lives were better off under Trump, Raimondo attempted to turn that (usual) observation on its head.

ā€œBy the way, he [Trump] was president. We know what that resulted in. Massive deficitsā€¦ā€ she began to argue as Kernen chimed in

It seems like you kind of forgot that earlier. The tariffs that he did put on were continued by the Biden administration. There was no recession, real wages were actually up, the stock market did well. A lot of very positive things happened ā€” record low unemployment until the pandemic ā€” so itā€™s just weird to act like itā€™s a complete wild card what kind of president he would be when youā€™ve got a blueprint right there of what kind of president he would be. And Kamala Harris has been vice president for four years and weā€™ve seen exactly what kind of vice president she would be.

She then tried to pivot and argue weā€™ve seen ā€œmore manufacturing in this country since World War II.ā€ (At risk of misrepresenting her argument - I sure would hope thereā€™s more manufacturing going on today than roughly eight decades ago!)

Kernen fired back ā€œIā€™ve seen an open border. Iā€™ve seen real wages go down. Iā€™ve seen, you know, crime,ā€ to which Raimondo said he ā€œ[doesnā€™t] agreeā€ with. Unfortunately, the statistics (i.e. reality) is in agreement with Kernen.
