Kaitlan Collins was taken aback when the audience of "The Late Show" erupted in laughter at a comment from Stephen Colbert that, for a change, wasn't intended as a joke, but ended up becoming the funniest thing he said all night.
The CNN anchor and former White House correspondent appeared on the show to discuss the presidential race. The highlight of the conversation came when she received an unexpected glimpse into the public's true feelings about CNN.
“I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as it is. No, CNN makes, I know if it’s–” Colbert began to say, before his was interrupted to laugh from his audience.
“Is that supposed to be a laugh line?” Collins asked.
“It wasn’t supposed to be, but I guess it is!” Colbert replied.
