The group released a statement saying that the group unanimously voted to endorse Trump for president, and that the decision was made after considering the records of the two presidential candidates and then surveying the more than 355,000 members throughout the country.
National President Patrick Yoes said in the statement that:
“Public safety will undoubtedly be a main focus for voters in this year’s election. Look at what the national discourse has focused on for the last six months. President Trump has shown time after time that he supports our law enforcement officers and understands the issues our members face every day. The FOP is proud to endorse a candidate who calls for law and order across our nation. He has the full and enthusiastic support of the FOP.
“During his first four years, President Trump has made it crystal clear that he has our backs,. Our members know that he listens to the concerns of our brothers and sisters in uniform and is able to make tough decisions on the issues most important to law enforcement. President Trump is committed to keeping our communities and families safe.
“As the nation’s oldest and largest law enforcement labor organization, the FOP’s presidential endorsement is one of the most sought-after endorsements by candidates running for the presidency. The FOP is the number one voice of America’s law enforcement. We have a responsibility to our members, to the 800,000 sworn law enforcement officers in the United States, and to the communities they serve to do our part in determining the direction in which our country will head.”
President Trump has been steadfastly pro-law enforcement, while the Democrat party has been almost entirely on the side of the movement to “defund the police.” Biden has, at best, tepidly condemned the Leftist violent rioters. The unanimous vote for the FOP to endorse Trump speaks volumes.
