A recently leaked phone conversation reveals Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass defending a planned trip to Ghana as the city faced a looming disaster. Recorded on October 31, 2024, and obtained by O’Keefe Media Group, the call captures Bass downplaying the timing of her travel, insisting, “I’m missing two workdays, that’s it.”

In the audio, Bass ignores concerns about her absence, and  drops a cryptic remark days before the fires erupted, advising the source to “read in between the lines and hold tight… you will understand soon.”

Last week, Bass demanded accountability…. For why she was allowed to go on her infamous Ghana trip.

Bass said during an interview with Fox 11 Los Angeles “We need to look at everything about the preparation and all of that for the fires, because, I think, when we evaluate that, we will find that, although there were warnings, that I, frankly, wasn’t aware of, although there were warnings, I think our preparation, it wasn’t what it typically is. Meaning that, before there’s a major weather event, for example, last week, when we knew we were going to get into the rains, you saw us come together and us talk about get your sandbags, bring the K-rails out, that type of preparation didn’t happen. If that had, I will tell you, Elex, I wouldn’t have even gone to San Diego, let alone leave the country.”

To give a timeline; Bass traveled to Ghana on Jan. 4, a day AFTER the National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch for Los Angeles. She landed on the 5th and later that day, the weather service issued a red flag warning. She attended the inauguration ceremony of the new President of Ghana on the 7th, and fires broke out after it ended. Bass posed for photos an hour and a half at a reception an hour and a half after the fires began.

The host allied to that, following up; “But what do you mean there were warnings you weren’t aware of? Because I know we were talking about it on the news. A lot of people were talking about the problems, warning that this was going to be a huge deal.”

Making matters even more absurd, here’s what Bass posted to her own social media a day before the fires broke out.
