Echoing sentiments that most of his city's residents probably share, Democrat Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenny told a reporter that he looks forward to not being Mayor anymore.

Speaking about the shooting in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum that left two officers wounded during a July 4 concert and show, Kenny began using the reporter as a therapist, telling him “I don’t enjoy the Fourth of July, I don’t enjoy the Democratic National Convention, I didn’t enjoy the NFL draft – I’m waiting for something bad to happen all the time. So I’ll be happy when I’m not here — when I’m not mayor and I can enjoy some stuff.”

When asked if he's looking forward to leaving office, Kenny doubled down “Yeah, as a matter of fact.”

This represents a drastic change in tune. After Donald Trump said during a 2020 presidential debate "bad things happen in Philadelphia," Kenny spoke at a "Count Every Vote Rally" in front of a banner reading "Good things happen in Philadelphia."

On Kenny's watch, Pennsylvania's murder rate has increased to it's highest level in hearly two and a half decades. In 2020 he eliminated a $19 million funding increase to Philly's police department.

In 2018, embarrassing video surfaced of him dancing after the city became a sanctuary city.

And now that he's faced with the consequences of his own actions, he can't wait to jump ship.
