Newly released emails by Judicial Watch and the Daily Caller reveal that Obama State Department officials who had ties to the infamous anti-Trump dossier set a meeting in New York in September of 2016 to discuss a “Russian Matter.”
The email exchange took place between then-Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and Special Coordinator for Libya Jonathan Winer, who was a close associate of dossier author, Christopher Steele.

Judicial Watch points out that Weiner wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post in 2018 where he admitted that in 2016, “Steele and I met in Washington and discussed the information now known as the “dossier… I prepared a two-page summary and shared it with Nuland, who indicated that, like me, she felt that the secretary of state needed to be made aware of this material.”
Documents obtained by the government watchdog also show that the State Department officials continued to use unsecured Blackberry devices to transmit classified information more than one year after Hillary Clinton’s email scandal transpired.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said, “The Obama State Department was central to the effort to target President Trump with the Russia smear. These new emails further show that senior Obama State Department advanced the Russiagate hoax just before the 2016 presidential election.”
