As part of New York City’s implementation of vaccine passports, ID will also become mandatory so that others can cross reference their proof of vaccination.
“Whatever works, all you have to do is show that proof and have ID as well” de Blasio said to those looking to participate in public life. “And it’s easy, all you have to do is show proof of vaccination — that could be a CDC paper card, that could be an Excelsior Pass, an NYC COVID Safe app, whatever works,” he continued. “All you got to do is show that proof and have ID as well, and it’s straightforward.” (Some sources say that a photo ID will be required – but de Blasio’s comments didn’t indicate it specifically had to be photo ID).
In New York City, you now need more identification to go out to eat than to vote.
