The Democratic Governor of Oregon, Kate Brown, declared that people should call the police on neighbors that have too many people over for Thanksgiving dinner. A week ago, Brown threatened citizens of Oregon with fines and 30 days of JAIL TIME for having more than 6 people in a social gathering. When she was asked about enforcement over Thanksgiving, she said,
“This is no different than what happens if there’s a party down the street and it’s keeping everyone awake. What do neighbors do? They call law enforcement because it’s too noisy. This is just like that. It’s like a violation of a noise ordinance.”
This is a state where they now legally allow you to possess heroin. It’s a state where they regularly allow riots, vandalism, and lawbreaking in Portland. However, if you want to see your whole family for Thanksgiving, they want your own neighbors to call the Gestapo on you so they can toss you in the slammer…FOR YOUR OWN GOOD. Kate Brown is exactly the type of tyrant C.S. Lewis was describing when he said,
The reactions to this were acidic, just as they should be.
Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) on Gov. Kate Brown (D-OR) telling residents to call police if they see people breaking COVID guidelines:
“Oregon just legalized heroin and maybe cocaine. And so it’s okay to have heroine and cocaine, but not turkey for Thanksgiving? That is un-American." pic.twitter.com/N0iApbnjYs

Personally, I’d rather see the police arrest politicians that come up with ideas like this one and the sort of bad neighbors that would snitch on someone for seeing their families than I would anyone that was celebrating Thanksgiving.
