Paul Pelosi Allegedly Slurred Speech, Had Drug in System, Handed Over Police Privilege Card During DUI Arrest

More details in the saga of finance guru Paul Pelosi's DUI arrest were made public while all eyes were on his wife Nancy's trip to Taiwan.

Fox News' Jesse Waters has been the only person in the media to investigate and report on the May 28 arrest, which was initially reported as a minor incident that caused no injuries, and then was largely buried from the public. Even as much as a mugshot wasn't released until Waters navigated a bureaucratic labyrinth and issued a FOIA request that the DA of Napa Valley released the mugshot - on the day of the FOIA's deadline. 

Today is the day of Paul's first court appearance, and just last night even more damning details came out revealing that the crash was no fender bender. 

As Waters reported last night, Pelosi's Porsche and the other driver's 2014 Jeep sustained "major collision damage," and when asked for his driver's license, Pelosi handed officers a California Highway Patrol charity donor card. He also allegedly showed "signs of impairment" during field sobriety tests and officers "observed objective signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication," which included "red/watery eyes."

The first count int he two-charge complaint against Pelosi reads that he allegedly injured the other driver "while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and a drug and under their combined influence." Pelosi's lawyer says the drug reference is "stauatory boilerplate language." 

The other driver reportedly told prosecutors he'd begun suffering pain in his upper right arm, shoulder after the crash, complained of headaches, and said it was difficult to do things with his right arm. That contradicts the DA's justification for charging Pelosi with a misdemeanor instead of a felony, which was because she said the injuries were "not serious."

The presiding judge for the case stepped down and was replaced by Judge Monique Langhorne, a registered Democrat who previously worked for the Napa County DA's office. The assistant DA that's prosecuting the case donated for Langhorne's campaign for the judge's office, as has District Attorney Allison Haley (who was appointed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom to a special advisory board).
