Pro-Sanctuary City Mayor Eric Adams Complains Migrant Crisis Will "Decimate" NYC

Earlier this week Massachusetts became the latest in a string of blue states to declare states of emergency over the surge in illegal immigration on Joe Biden’s watch. In the words of the governor, the surge had pushed social services across the state to a breaking point.

Evidently, even the Democrats who want to welcome in illegals by the tens of millions in hopes of eventually converting them into Democrat voters don’t actually want to pony up the cost for this new constituency themselves.

That’s the case everywhere, as sanctuary cities nationwide, many of which sprung up to virtue signal in response to the Trump administration’s immigration policies, have realized that the cost of being a “sanctuary” is far more than they bargained for.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams promised back in 2021 that “Yes, New York City will remain a sanctuary city under an Adams administration” - and is now complaining daily about the consequences of his own policies (without making much of a connection between the two).

"We have created a funnel," Adams said while on CBS Mornings. "All the bordering states have now took the funnel right to New York City. New York City is the economic engine of this entire state and country. If you decimate this city, you're going to decimate the foundation of what's happening with Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston," Adams continued, complaining that people noticed his city was a sanctuary like he advertised.

Adams’ admission here didn’t prompt an obvious question from any of the hosts; that if New York City is the “economic engine” of the entire country, and even they (and Martha's Vineyard) can’t accommodate this recent surge in illegal immigrants, how can the rest of the country be expected to?

Amusingly, co-host Nate Burleson did chime in to point out the blatantly obvious; that these costs from illegals come when we already has unhoused citizens in our country."Exactly," Adams replied, with no sense of self-awareness whatsoever.

None of Adams' comments should be interpreted as him taking a harder stance on immigration of course - he just wants it to be a red state's problem.
