Dr. Anthony Fauci has benefited greatly from his career in the U.S. Government, taking home the largest salary of any government employee while he became a media darling for clashes with Donald Trump during the coronavirus pandemic.
From Forbes:
Dr. Anthony Fauci made more than every other employee in the entire federal government. In the latest year available, his 2019 salary of $417,608, made him not only the highest paid doctor in the federal government, but the highest paid out of all four million federal employees.
In fact, Dr. Fauci even made more than the $400,000 salary of the President of the United States. All salary data was collected by OpenTheBooks.com via Freedom of Information Act requests.
Fauci is scheduled to make a total of $2.5 million between 2019 and 2024 if he stays on through the current administration and does not receive a raise, the report also found. That number is up from the $3.6 million he made between 2010-2019, with an annual salary of $335,000.
Of course, Fauci didn’t enjoy the public profile he has today between 2010 and 2019 while they were funding his $335,000 salary. That all changed at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, when Fauci’s media appearances helped springboard him into the national spotlight, garnering him a borderline cult-like status among many on the left.
Joe Biden decided to keep the doctor on board during his administration, with Fauci also accepting a position on the executive board of the World Health Organization.
