Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) is expected to announce her 2020 presidential run on January 21, 2019–Martin Luther King Day.
Harris is likely to make the announcement during a campaign rally in Oakland, CA, according to sources who spoke with KCBS Radio.
The Washington Examiner Reports:
Harris has been signaling a White House run for several weeks now, and told ABC on Tuesday that she believes now “is that moment” to do something about the problems facing the nation. The 54-year-old senator has been making the rounds on TV as part of a small tour to promote her new book, The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, which was released on Tuesday. Harris has said she wants to consider her family before making a decision, but several sources say she has already made her decision to run and has the full support of her husband and two stepchildren.
As the Examiner points out, Harris is facing mounting criticism over a $400,000 sexual harassment suit settled by one of her former senior advisers at California’s Department of Justice while she was serving as the attorney general.
