Senator Ted Cruz was assaulted at the Houston Astros World Series victory parade, being struck in the neck and chest area by a beer can while on a parade float.

According to Fox News

A man was arrested Monday for allegedly throwing a beer can at Sen. Ted Cruz during a victory parade to celebrate the Houston Astros, which won the World Series over the weekend.

The Houston Police Department said it took a 33-year-old man into custody over the incident. Video footage shows Cruz on a parade float when a beer can narrowly misses his face and hits his hand as he attempts to block the projectile.

Cruz was struck in the "chest/neck area" but did not require any medical attention, police said. The unidentified suspect will face assault charges, authorities said.

The assault comes amid an environment of rising violence against conservatives. Just days ago a Lee Zeldin supporter was assaulted at an event for NY Gov. Kathy Hochul, and not long before that a Marco Rubio canvasser was assaulted and left with a broken jaw and internal bleeding. In September, teenager Cayler Ellingson was allegedly run over and killed following a political argument with a man who falsely accused him of being part of a "Republican extremist group."

Protests are still regularly occuring outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices due to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and over 100 pro-life organizations and churches have been attacked. The FBI claimed to be investigating these attacks as recently as June - and has since made no arrests because they aren't actually doing anything.
