Texas Reports Zero Covid Deaths for First Time Following Biden’s “Neanderthal Thinking” Comment

After Texas allowed all businesses to reopen at full capacity back in March, President Joe Biden blasted the decision as a “huge mistake,” describing it as Neanderthal thinking. “The last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking that in the meantime everything’s fine, take off your mask, forget it. It still matters,” he said.

Daily Texas coronavirus cases neared 30,000 in January, and had crashed below 10,000 when Texas decided to fully reopen businesses. Common sense would suggest that when the relative risk of something decreases, the precautions you take against it can as well, but common sense is increasingly hard to come by. MSNBC’s Joy Reid described Texas Governor Gregg Abbott as the “absolute worst” following his reopening decision – and daily coronavirus cases in the state have fallen another 90% since her comment.

And now, for the first time since the pandemic began, and a mere two months after being blasted for “Neanderthal thinking,” Texas logged zero coronavirus deaths for a day.

As Newsweek reports:

On Sunday, just a couple of hours after a major PGA event in Dallas and the NCAA FCS college football national championship in Frisco, Abbott reported that the state had no COVID-related deaths the previous 24 hours, and that the seven-day positivity rate was the lowest it’s been since records have been taken—which was March 2020.

Abbott also said COVID hospitalizations was at its lowest in 11 months.

Biden expressed disappointment in those states that had plans to fully reopen, saying the goal was for every American adult to receive vaccinations before starting big gatherings, with a target date of July 4 for families to get together and celebrate.

States with Democrat governors dominate the list of the states with the most coronavirus deaths per-capita; New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Florida’s approach to combating the virus seems to have drawn the most criticism from the media – but their deaths are below the national average.

As always, facts never seem to get in the way of a liberal narrative.
