If there’s one thing we know about “woke” corporations, it’s that they’re only woke within U.S. borders. No shortage of companies that hopped on the “social justice” bandwagon last summer remain silent on the severe human rights abuses in the other countries in which they operate.
Yesterday Sen. Tom Cotton pressed a representative from Coca-Cola on the company’s decision to sponsor the 2022 Beijing Olympics despite China’s human rights abuses against the Uyghurs. Coca-Cola’s website has an entire section of it titled “Where We Stand on Social Justice” where there CEO voices support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
Cotton called out Coca-Cola for its hypocrisy, and a heated exchange followed.
