While many on the left view Donald Trump as a grave threat to "democracy," Trump has revealed his own perspective on the real danger during a speech at the Economic Club of Detroit on Thursday: "stupid people."
"A lot of countries don’t like me," Trump said. "They ask, 'Who do you like better? Sleepy Joe Biden... or Trump?' And they say, 'Oh, I like Biden better.' Yeah, because he lets them do whatever they want. He doesn’t have a clue. The guy just goes to sleep at 4:00 every day. He’s clueless."
"And he’s destroying our country," Trump continued. "That’s the real threat to democracy: stupid people. Our biggest threat to democracy is stupid people."

During the same speech, Trump also criticized warmongers from both the right and left. "We go in, blow up countries, and then leave," Trump said. "We have nothing except dead people everywhere. How stupid are we? That was Cheney and Bush, not just Democrats. I'm equally angry at both."

Indeed, the U.S. has engaged in numerous costly and deadly wars that have failed to promote freedom or prosperity abroad, often at the expense of its own citizens. As President John Quincy Adams once said, "America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own."
