After a failed attempt last week, Adam Schiff has officially been censured by the U.S. House of Representatives in a party line vote.
As Daily Wire reported:
Passed by a 213-209 vote along party lines, the resolution reprimands Schiff for “misleading the American public and for conduct unbecoming of an elected Member of the House of Representatives.”
Schiff is now the 25th member of the House ever to be censured, and the third this century. “Censure registers the House’s deep disapproval of Member misconduct that, nevertheless, does not meet the threshold for expulsion,” a government history webpage.
The four-page resolution, introduced by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), accuses Schiff of abusing his position and telling falsehoods about the Russia investigation. Is also mentions issues related to the Ukraine-focused impeachment inquiry against Trump.
As the votes came in, Democrats embarrassingly changed “shame! shame! shame!” as if they were in a Game of Thrones episode in an attempt to delay the inevitable.
While the vote was across party lines, there were six Republicans who voted “present,” though five of them are members of the House ethics panel, so this was to be expected. There were also three Republicans and three Democrats who didn’t vote.
