Shortly after insisting there was an “emergency to our national election going on right now,” Congressman Cedric Richmond (D-LA) was called out for apparently watching a golf tournament on his laptop during last night’s Judiciary Committee impeachment articles markup.
GOP Rapid Response Director Steve Guest tweeted a video of Richmond during the hearing and wrote,“What on earth is Democrat Rep. Cedric Richmond watching on his laptop during this impeachment markup? To me, it looks like Rep. Richmond is watching the President’s Cup golf tournament. Richmond’s actions are a DISGRACE.”
Guest then tweeted a photo zoomed in, confirming that the Congressman did, indeed, have a golf tournament playing on his laptop during the hearing.
Zoomed in.

Prior to getting caught watching the President’s Cup tournament, Richmond issued a dire warning to his colleagues that there was an “emergency to our national election going on right now.”
“Our oath to the Constitution requires us to take this drastic, solemn, and regrettable step, but it is necessary because if we don’t protect America’s precious right to vote, it is clear that the other side won’t,” he continued.
GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel tweeted, “Democrats on Nadler’s Committee are so ‘solemn’ and ‘prayerful’ about impeachment that they’re watching golf at the hearing. This partisan sham has been an absolute waste of the American people’s time.”
