John Kirby refused to answer any questions on the latest Joe Biden scandal - and then was yanked out of the room before there could be any real follow-up.
Rep. James Comer and Sen. Chuck Grassley said earlier this week that a whistleblower had provided information about an alleged bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national that involved the exchange of money for policy decisions. Comer and Grassley said they were in possession of a document that "includes a precise description of how the alleged criminal scheme was employed as well as its purpose."
And in response, the White House has ānothingā to say.
A reporter asked at a briefing of the news; āThanks, Karine. John, Iāve got a question about a House Oversight Committee subpoena that was issued yesterday. Itās seeking an FBI document from 2020 that, quote, ādescribes an alleged criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions.ā Whatās the White Houseās response to this serious corruption allegation?ā
And to that, Kirby offered nothing.
āIām going to have to refer you to the Justice Department on that. I have nothing for you on that today,ā he replied.
āDo you know what this is ā what country this pertains to or what policy decision?ā the reporter attempted to follow up.
āI have nothing for you, sir. Iām going to have to refer you to the Justice Departmentā¦.ā he started to reply, as Jean-Pierre signaled him to wrap up. āAnd Iām getting the hook,ā Kirby added, laughing, āSee ya.ā
