House Republicans are expanding their investigation into State Department efforts to censor their critics in the name of fighting so-called “disinformation.”

According to the Washington Examiner

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan issued subpoenas to the heads of three federal agencies, including the State Department-housed Global Engagement Center (GEC) interagency, with the aim of uncovering government coordination with social media companies on content moderation. Now, House Foreign Affairs Committee Republicans are asking the GEC for records on grants to entities tied to efforts to fight "disinformation" and "misinformation," citing various lucrative awards in recent years, according to a Monday letter sent to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and obtained by the Washington Examiner.

The letter, led by Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul and signed by seven other Republicans, alleges that the GEC "continues to stray from its founding mission through its subsidized censorship of free speech and disfavored opinions" by handing taxpayer dollars to groups like the Global Disinformation Index, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, and the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensics Research Lab. The Washington Examiner revealed in February that GDI has been blacklisting conservative media outlets and pocketed $100,000 from the GEC in 2021.

One of the groups listed, the Global Disinformation Index (GDI), has received funding from the George Soros-funded National Endowment for Democracy, and the State Department’s “Global Engagement Center.” Blinken himself has some links to Soros through his parents. His father Donald Blinken, and his wife, Vera, funded the Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives at the Soros-founded Central European University (CEU), which houses a digital collection of Hungarian historical documents. In one of Soros’ Open Foundations Network reports from 2002, Donald Blinken is listed on the Board of Trustees for CEU third after Soros (the chair) and Aryeh Neier (the President), implying he’s high in the pecking order.

The GDI has claimed that the ten "riskiest" news outlets for disinformation include the American Spectator, Newsmax, the Federalist, One America News, the Blaze, Daiyl Wire, Real Clear Politics, Reason, and the New York Post, all of which are conservative or libertarian publications.

If disinformation truly were of concern to Blinken, he could simply look in the mirror. It was revealed last month that former acting CIA Director Mike Morell helped organize the infamous bogus letter from 50 intel officials falsely labeling the Hunter Biden laptop as “Russian disinformation” at the direction of Antony Blinken. But as we all know, censoring “disinformation” is just a Trojan Horse to censor anything contrary to the regime narrative.

When questioned about the Hunter letter revelations, Blinken flat-out refused to answer any questions about the laptop and said he “would not be engaging” on the topic.

According to Rasmussen Reports, 60% of likely U.S. voters believe that Congress should start impeachment proceedings against Blinken for his role in helping suppress news about the Hunter Biden laptop ahead of the 2020 election.
