According to the Epoch Times:
The 219â208 party-line vote sent the resolution to the Judiciary and Homeland Security committees, which oversee impeachments and immigration policy, respectively.
Usually, an impeachment investigation begins with the Judiciary Committee. However, Boebert bypassed that path with her privileged resolution, skipping the committee procedure resulting in only two days for House leaders to schedule a vote. The shock move threatened to divide the party and disrupt its ongoing investigations into the Biden family.
In a move that signaled division in the party, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy urged Republican lawmakers to oppose the measure.
Hilariously, the same Democrats who impeached Donald Trump over a phone call, and his January 6th rally where he explicitly told people to be peaceful, are accusing Boebert of âweaponizingâ the impeachment process.
Pennsylvania Democrat Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon whined that she âcannot overstate the solemness and sadness that I feel right now, to see the House so debased by the invocation of our most grave constitutional duty, impeachment of a president," adding that "Common sense is revolted by the political grandstanding and petty stunts.â Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern, the top Democrat on the Rules Committee who also doesnât understand the concept of irony, said on the House floor, "They have a policy disagreement with President Biden. And their first impulse isn't, âLet's pass an immigration bill.â Their first impulse is to impeach him. Our founding fathers must be rolling over in their graves.â
Given the Founding Fathersâ hardline stances on immigration, gun rights, and freedom of speech, itâs doubtful that itâs the Republicans making them turn in their graves.
