In 1991 George Soros founded Central European University to help advance his political ideology in Budapest but moved it to Vienna in late 2018 amid a crackdown from Hungaryâs anti-Soros government. In 1995 the school opened an archive that was later renamed the Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives (and again later to the Blinken OSA Archivum) - Donald being the father of Joe Bidenâs Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Despite stepping back from his Open Society Foundations (OSF), George is still CEUâs âhonorary chairâ of the Board of Trustees, and his heir, Alex Soros, is a member of the board.
Due to immense funding from George, the school is one of the wealthiest per-student in Europe, but that hasnât stopped him from taking handouts.
As NewsBustersâ Joseph Vazquez exposed:
USAID gave a $1 million grant to Central European University. The grantâs period began in September of FY 2021 and is set to end in September FY 2025, with $238,609 of the total obligated grant being outlayed so far.
To illustrate just how invested Soros is in elevating CEU on the global stage, his Open Society Foundations funneled an ungodly $948,570,000 into the university between 2016 and 2023 alone.
But somehow, even with Soros throwing his fortune at CEU, the Biden USAID still poured tax dollars into a university that has been at the nexus of global leftism and anti-American dogmatism.
The grant is administered through the âAmerican Schools and Hospitals Abroadâ program, which is for schools that âbest demonstrate American ideas,â a completely subjective criteria. Only an ideologue at USAID would agree that CEU meets this definition. USAID was funneling money to CEU at the same time as an Open Society University Network (co-founded by CEO) was hosting a webinar claiming that the reaction to 9/11 helped fuel white supremacy and police officers committ genocide against black people.
Alex has furthered his fatherâs âdeny, deny, denyâ strategy when it started making headlines that they were benefitting from the American taxpayer dollar.
Earlier in February, the OSF put out a statement on supposed âfalse claimsâ about their involvement with USAID. âThe claims that the Open Society Foundations, founded by George Soros, receive funding from USAID or direct the funding of a multibillion-dollar U.S. government agency are manifestly false. These allegations are part of a broader effort to undermine international development work and delegitimize the independent funding of civil society organizations worldwide.â

Only a few months earlier, the OSF put out a press release that âAlex Soros, chair of the Open Society Foundations, has outlined a new vision for the Foundationsâ higher education work, and reaffirmed Open Societyâs financial commitment to the Central European University (CEU) through 2032 and beyondâ - and he wanted your tax money to help.
